Chinzi was the youngest dog to take part in the Hills Flyball races at the Good Hope Centre on Friday. Our team consisted of 3 dogs from Cape Town, and one from Durban, so we had never practised together as a team. We did quite well, coming 2nd, although we had the fastest time, we only had one clean run of our 3 runs.
Saturday however, was a whole different story. 5 Teams competed in the KUSA Nationals, and our first 3 runs were clear! We were on a roll and our last run was against the very fast Boland team. Unfortunately something went wrong, one of our dogs ventured out the lane and we had a rerun, which meant we lost the last heat. We ended in a close second overall! For a team who has never run together, we were quite happy and pleased.
Chinzi had an absolute ball (excuse the pun!) and was so hard to handle the way she gets excited and screams to go while waiting her turn in line. The Hills rep told me afterwards, I have an "insane" dog, well... all I can say is... if you want to see drive, watch Chinzi do flyball! :)
This was only Chinzi's second flyball competition ever, and I'm very proud of my girl, being steady, fast and consistent, not letting her team down even as young and inexperienced as she is, she earned her points. You go girl!
After the competition I let her off the leash to run back with me, instead she decided to rather do some more flyball and ran down the lane and back twice again, all on her own! :) She was disappointed not to find her beloved ball in the box, probably why she stopped after the second try.
Well done my girl, you made mommy proud!
