My Chinzi !

My Chinzi !
Chinzi was born on the 22nd of December 2006 in Durban, Natal, on the east coast of South Africa.

She spent her first few weeks with 8 other littermates, and lots of big dogs. Apparently she was the smallest in the litter. After both her sisters were picked by handlers who was part of the SA team who won the Large Team Event at the 2005 FCI World Agility Championships, one who owns her father Chi, Chinzi was put on a flight to Cape Town, and I met her for the first time at the airport.

She was quiet and shy all the way in the car, back to a show where all my agility friends were waiting to meet her.

Everybody loved her straight away, and in time she crept deep into the hearts of everyone who came to know her. She can entertain herself for hours by playing on her own with holding one toy in her mouth, and kicking a ball around with her feet. Chinzi is really a special girl and has lightened up my life.

Well, I can only hope she follows in her father's Agility footsteps! Watch this space! :)

Q's and success in Bloem!

Montego Classic Champ Show Weekend in Bloem.

Chinzi girl got two qualifications in Contact 1 this weekend, moving her up to Grade 2. She also qualified once in Non-Contact 1. On Sunday afternoon at the SADAA Club Trial, she also qualified in Jumping 1.

Her best result for the weekend however, was when she surprised me by coming third in the Dog Jumping Grade 1 on Saturday. She competed against 23 of the top Large dogs in the country, which makes this result a very sweet one.

She went clear in the first round to qualify for the jump-off and with a wicked weave entry which I must admit, I though she wouldn't crack, she ran a great clear jump-off round, to only be half a second slower than her dad, SA and World Champ, Chi. Chi's experience made him execute the 90 degree weave pole entry with precision and style and obviously that is where Chinzi's inexperience and slightly wider turn to line her up for the entry cost us some time. Mom was ecstatic with this result however and will be smiling for a long time to come. Chinzi, so young, getting such a good result. Wow!

Her aunt Ostara ran an amazing round to win the CC in this event by being almost 2 seconds faster. She is one magnificant dog, and will also be representing SA at the FCI Agility World Champs in Finland this year, handled by Alison Roets.

Saturday morning she also competed at the Boeremark for the Dog Jumping Interprovincial Event. We DQ'd in the first round, but went clear in the second, 0.2 seconds faster than her dad Chi. This was also a very sweet result. Chinzi, my young girl, up there with the best.

Unfortunately I don't have any clips of Chinzi on this weekend, photos to follow, but keep watching... THIS SPACE! :)
